When my wife Nancy (aka The Travel Writers Wife) and I head out for a trip we always try to take everything we think we might need. That includes natural remedies in case we start coming down with something. This actually became a big issue on our last return to the U.S. from Europe where Nancy got some sort of a bad bug and had to endure hours of trains, buses, and an airplane flight. Since we share everything she gave me her virus as well.
We had packed essential oils and a bunch of other alternative items and they did help to make that long return trip bearable. So, when the folks at Olbas Herbal Remedies sent me some samples of their aromatherapy inhalant oil and inhaler to try, I gladly accepted.
Fortunately, this came at an opportune time as I was right in the middle of fighting a cold caught on another trip (yup, it isn’t all just fun and glamour when we trek the world).
Olbas is a Swiss company having been established in Basel 100 years ago. The aromatherapy oil contained a blend of six essential oils including peppermint, eucalyptus, cajeput, wintergreen, juniper, and clove. I put some in my diffuser at night and managed to sleep well without the usual stuffy nose that made it hard to breathe. I also rubbed some on my chest and the warming sensation and light decongesting aroma added to my comfort.
During the day I would use their inhaler that also contained some of these oils. What is really nice about this one is that they are very small and can easily be slipped into a pocket or purse for travel.
Overall, I liked both of these products and will continue to use them. I will also send some to my daughters for their young children as they are also into using more natural methods.
They have a whole range of products that you can find online or at your local health foods store. For coughs, aches and pains, allergies, and sore throats, I would recommend you give these a try as they helped me manage my symptoms with ease and comfort.
