About

Ron and Nancy Stern are longtime journalists who have had a love of travel since they went on their first cruise to the Bahamas. Back then, they didn’t know how or when to book the right cruise line and thought their ship was huge. That is until they docked in port and saw the mega-ship next to them. It made their little vessel look like the tender that took you to shore.

This started a lifetime of research into all things travel and along the way each developed their own identities and website. Ron took on the persona of an old- time, shoe worn detective as The Global Gumshoe whose slogan was, Uncovering the SOLE of Travel (Clever huh?).

Nancy joined Ron along the way and wrote a memoir about their travels as The Travel Writer’s Wife. Together they have spoken to thousands of travelers, sharing their tips and secrets from how to find the best airline deals to how to pack in one suitcase.

They have written hundreds of articles between them that have appeared in digital newspapers such as The Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and Baltimore Sun. Magazines include Shape, Cruise, AAA Motorist, Destinations West, and Canadian Traveler.

As baby boomers, Ron and Nancy have learned a thing or two about senior travel. They created this newly combined blog site to share their knowledge and experience in the hope of helping others travel safe, well, and often.
